Is high-speed Ethernet ready to roll?

What are the prospects for the next generation of the networking technology?

With data traffic growth now as high as 300 per cent in some areas of the globe, the unquenchable demand for bandwidth continues unabated. The challenge for network providers is clear - to satisfy the demand while remaining in business.

Fortunately, new faster Ethernet technologies are following hard on the heels of 10 Gigabit. Both 40 Gigabit and 100 Gigabit Ethernet are being planned - but when can we expect them and what are the key challenges? And most importantly, when can service providers and enterprises expect to see the benefits?

In this video from Computing partner Netevents TV, we delve into the world of ultra-high-speed Ethernet and report on the current state of play, the key applications for the new technologies, and the readiness of the main players.
