Morrisons speeds up product development

Supermarket chain improves supply chain visibility for own brand products

Written by Dave Friedlos

Supermarket chain Morrisons has implemented new software to speed its product development processes and get its own-label products to shelves sooner.

It has introduced Creations from RedSky IT to manage the product development life cycle to improve supply chain traceability and meet regulations.

The UK’s fourth largest supermarket chain wanted a software product that would optimise its product development and specifications.

The fully integrated collaborative supply chain, product innovation and due diligence management system enables Morrisons to streamline its new product development process by improving visibility and control of product and supplier data.

Morrisons grocery director Andrew Pleasance says it is vital to bring products to market quickly in the competitive UK retail market.

‘Bringing high-quality foods to market as quickly, safely and efficiently as possible is fundamentally important,’ he said. ‘RedSky IT will help us optimise our product development and management process.

‘Through increased efficiencies, we will have greater opportunity to bring innovative and exciting products to market more quickly.’
