Schoolchildren in the UK are to use an open source single sign-on password
system.
Named Shibboleth, the system is being introduced by the British Educational
Communications and Technology Agency (Becta) to provide parents, teachers and
children with secure access to educational content.
‘Pupils and teachers use multiple usernames and passwords, as each web site their school subscribes to has its own, different, login system,’ said John Chapman, technology policy and delivery project manager at Becta.
