Join the debate on IT and the environment - and find out how you can improve your green credentials

Written by Forum of the week

Companies are becoming increasingly aware of their responsibility to improving the environment. Shareholders are demanding corporate social responsibility plans and evidence of environmental awareness has become an indicator of a well-run organisation. As a major source of energy use, IT has a critical role to play.

Best practice tools and technologies are available to reduce energy consumption, improve operations, and cut costs too. There are simple steps that IT managers can take to make their team and their technology use more environmentally-friendly, which have been encapsulated in the Green Computing Charter. More than 130 organisations have already signed up, including HSBC, LloydsTSB, Centrica and Virgin Atlantic.

And in the first of a four-part web seminar programme, hosted by Computing, we discuss the reasons why environmentalism has become so important to business, and introduce the seven-step plan to improving your green credentials.
